Peace reigns eternal
When we meet ourselves where we are, not where we think we should be, we are suspended in a space of ease and love. From this place anything is possible.
To be present in this way to our whole self is an act of peace, an honouring of all that we are. This state of inclusion is the feeling in which wisdom travels, where potential is realised, and where our souls voice can be heard most clearly. In these moments we come home to ourselves and create the conditions for all that we are, to be fully seen, heard and actualised.
This actualisation process is simply an allowing, a remembering of our true nature which is able to be realised through the act of truly listening inside.
When we meet ourselves where we are, we are suspended in a moment between personal thoughts, in a state of consciousness that connects us to the source of our creation. In this moment we immerse ourselves in love and understanding which is the energy that enables us to thrive, to bring forth all that we are, and live in true alignment with our innate wellbeing.
This is the journey of our soul and being, as humans. Any dis-ease we experience is just an indication that we are not fully meeting ourselves and our needs in this moment. When we are fully grounded in this understanding, we become attuned to noticing this misalignment. This capacity and capability to notice, strengthens over time as our consciousness expands. This in turn creates a greater bandwidth within which we meet ourselves, fully present, where we are, more of the time.
In practice, when we live in this expanded space of inclusion, we are kinder, more compassionate and at ease within life. Things start to flow. We notice less friction, tension and challenge, and come into right alignment with the natural rhythm and unfolding of our lives. Decisions almost don’t feel like decisions. There is an effortless motion in our world and we start to notice synchronicities and happy accidents as a regular feature in our daily lives.
Wholeness and inclusion are innate. They are not things we need to attain or aim for, we come with these states as factory standard. This is such a helpful thing to know. Whilst it might appear to some that this is not true, this simple fact is what will ultimately enable a path to peace for every one of us.
The act of every individual realising their innate wholeness and as a result, that of all humans, will result in our collective understanding of inclusion (all parts of the whole) deepening. From this deeper place of understanding, peace is inevitable.
This simple understanding is what brings us hope, despite what we might see around us. When we have experienced the peace that this understanding brings for ourselves, we find a comfort and sense of possibility that this is how humans can live everywhere. A balm that soothes and reassures, bringing comfort in seemingly challenging times.
And I can hear people saying “well thats great but how do we find a way to meet ourselves more fully more of the time - because it sure doesn’t always feel easeful or peaceful in my life!”
We are human. Our experience of life is variable, moment to moment.
AND
Who we really are, as an expression of love and understanding is constant. And this is so helpful to know because in the midst of challenge or tension remembering this simple fact will light up the path back to ease and wellbeing.
And yes that sounds very simple, because it is! The peace and ease that we seek is available to us 100% of the time, it just hides behind all the things we think we should be, or what we have decided our life should look like or certain beliefs that we hold but have in reality outgrown etc.
Repeatedly in my coaching and creative practice I see evidence of this understanding at work.
To witness others find a space within a conversation where they meet themselves fully, with no expectation or “shoulds”, is a beautiful thing. Just a glimpse, in a moment, can have a ripple effect beyond the conversation, creating fertile ground for insights to generate and ease to flow. When someone honours their needs and allows this to move them forwards, often into the unknown, but with a sense of certainty, knowing, and ease, - it reminds me how powerful this act of meeting the self is, for all of us and our health and wellbeing.
This ongoing spiral of deepening alignment with who we are and what we are here to create in the world is something I experience in my creative practice too. I would say that in and of itself, my commitment to my creative work is an act of meeting myself wholeheartedly. Through the work I get to experience the full spectrum of human states and the insights that come from this process, serve me everywhere.
For me creating art is a sacred act of self honouring. Continually creating a space for me to meet myself, to include all the aspects of who I am, and express from there is a wonderful and rich experience that teaches me as much about being human as it does about making art!
This is important for us as artists or anyone with a creative practice. The work I create when I think I should be creating x or y is never as good as the work I allow to come through me in the moment, when I am just being present to what needs to be expressed now. Allowing the work to emerge from beyond who I think I am as an artist, or what I think I should be, is a beautiful thing. It might not be a beautiful finished painting, but it has a feeling and a quality that is palpable, honest and impactful ,and when I allow this to happen it always feels more satisfying and enjoyable.
Each of you will have your own personal practice which creates a similar space and conduit for insight, it might be swimming in the sea, tending your garden or playing with your grandchildren. Those activities which we just love to immerse ourselves in are a clue - because in actively engaging in what we love, we are turning towards ourselves, meeting our whole selves and honouring who we are.
In this feeling, we find our way home.
We are our own best teachers and guides. As multi sensory beings we have feedback coursing through us all the time, inviting us to be present to what it is that we really need in any moment. When we - even momentarily - listen in, and really turn to meet ourselves, we fall back into alignment. This fleeting moment, or longer, reminds us of our natural state of ease, of the untapped potential of this state of being, of what it feels like to include all of ourselves in the picture, with a loving gaze, and a well of compassion. In this moment peace reigns eternal.
